Salina Student Wins Scholarship

SALINA, Kan., June 12, 2013 – Archer Daniels Midland Company (NYSE: ADM) announced today that Brooke Waters has been awarded a college scholarship through the ADM Scholarship Program.“Congratulations to Brooke from all of us at ADM,” said Rick Flack, facility manager of ADM’s Econo-Flo milling facility in Salina. “Brooke was selected to receive this ADM scholarship because she has already shown remarkable dedication and commitment to her academic work, extracurricular activities, and to her community. We are pleased to be able to help provide her the opportunity for even more outstanding achievements in the future.”

Waters, a graduate of Salina High School South, plans to attend Kansas State University and study secondary education. Her father, Jeff Waters, works as a millwright at ADM’s Econo-Flo milling facility.

The ADM Scholarship Program was created to assist the children of ADM active employees with the costs associated with a college education. Winners were selected on the basis of high scores on the PSAT/NMSQT; academic record throughout high school; significant activities and contributions to the school and community; the school’s recommendation of the candidate; and a student essay.

In Salina, ADM Milling, a wholly owned subsidiary of ADM, owns and operates the Econo-Flo milling facility, which designs and fabricates equipment for ADM’s milling facilities worldwide, as well as a flour mill. ADM also has a grain elevator in Salina and employs 63 people in the local community.
