ADM launches Knwble Grwn™, a direct-to-consumer, food ingredient line derived from sustainably sourced crops

Plant-based line produced with regenerative ag practices by small or underrepresented farmers

CHICAGO – March 7, 2023 – ADM (NYSE: ADM) today announced the launch of the Knwble Grwn™ brand to provide consumers wholesome, plant-based food ingredients that are sustainably sourced. Knwble Grwn products are produced by small or underrepresented farmers using regenerative agricultural practices that help to protect the environment. The new brand complements ADM’s other sustainability initiatives.

“Our focus with Knwble Grwn is to provide consumers products that are people centered, planet conscious and purpose driven,” said Jaime Goehner, ADM commercial manager. “ADM’s supply chain leadership enables us to source ingredients from farmers who share our passion for regenerative agriculture.”

People Centered
ADM is focusing on engaging with small or underrepresented farmers, such as veterans, Indigenous Americans and other minorities, to produce the crops that become Knwble Grwn. These farmers receive financial incentives for being early adopters of regenerative ag practices.

“We want to collaborate with these growers because they recognize the positive impact regenerative ag practices can have on their land,” said Goehner. “Knwble Grwn products can provide farmers an alternative crop to grow in their rotation to further enhance biodiversity and soil health.”

Planet Conscious
ADM has ambitious environmental goals to reduce scope three emissions and the environmental impact of its supply chain. The Knwble Grwn brand and its focus on regenerative agriculture is one component of those efforts.

Regenerative agriculture is adaptive to local physical conditions and culture. Its practices include:

  • minimizing soil disturbance.
  • improving soil structure and quality.
  • continuously covering bare soil.
  • maximizing biodiversity.
  • and responsibly managing inputs, including nutrients and pesticides.

Paul Overby, who farms with his wife, Diane, in north central North Dakota, is working with ADM to produce flax for Knwble Grwn. “The Knwble Grwn brand is taking exactly the right approach,” he said. “The concern for the farmer, the concern for having a high-quality product that’s raised right, the concern for the environment and the concern for the customer, that’s the type of program we want our farm to be a partner with from here on forward.”

Purpose Driven
The Knwble Grwn product line was inspired by a women- and minority-led team at ADM.

The line includes flaxseed, hemp seed, flax oil, hemp oil and quinoa. The products offer consumers an opportunity to make thoughtful purchases of wholesome food ingredients that are flavorful additions to many recipes. Consumers will find Knwble Grwn products at Amazon.com and Walmart.com.

“Consumers are looking for sustainably sourced products and they want supply chain transparency,” said Goehner. “Knwble Grwn is taking a customized, people-centered, planet-conscious approach to help meet those demands.”
