Archer Daniels Midland Company Names Juan R. Luciano New Chief Operating Officer

DECATUR, Ill.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Archer Daniels Midland Company (NYSE: ADM) today announced that Juan R. Luciano will join the company in the new role of Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, effective April 12. Luciano will lead the company’s global operations and commercial activities. He will report to ADM’s Office of the Chairman, which includes Chairman, CEO and President Patricia Woertz and Vice Chairman John Rice.

Luciano joins ADM from The Dow Chemical Company where he was an Executive Vice President of the company and President of the Performance Division.

Juan Luciano is ADM’s Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, effective April 12, 2011. He will serve on the company’s Strategic Planning Committee and report to ADM’s Chairman, President and CEO Patricia Woertz and Vice Chairman John Rice.

Luciano joins ADM from The Dow Chemical Company where he served as Executive Vice President and President, Performance Division. He was a member of Dow’s Executive Leadership Committee, Strategy Board and Management Committee.

He oversaw several global businesses in the hydrocarbons and energy field, including polymers, olefins, aromatics and plastics. He managed a portfolio of companies that encompassed 29 countries and a global workforce of more than 8,000, with additional responsibilities for 10 joint venture companies with manufacturing locations in Kuwait, Argentina, Thailand, Japan, South Korea and the United States. As President, Performance Division he led a business with a strong innovation focus, with revenues of more than $16 billion, doing business in 50 countries.

Luciano is a National Trustee in the Midwest region for the Boys & Girls Clubs of America and holds a degree in industrial engineering from the Buenos Aires Institute of Technology.
