ADM's DE111 Gut Health Probiotic Approved by the National Health Commission (NHC) in China

This approval is a testament to the depth of research demonstrating DE111^TM spore-forming probiotic's quality and safety. 

SHANGHAI – ADM (NYSE: ADM), a global leader in human and animal nutrition, today announced its spore-forming probiotic DE111^TM (Bacillus subtilis) has been officially approved by the National Health Commission (NHC) in China.

With the approval from NHC, Chinese customers now have access to DE111^TM, knowing that the probiotic has undergone rigorous evaluation and meets China’s stringent quality and safety requirements.

DE111^TM has clinically documented results showing that it supports digestive health¹ and healthy immune function^2,3. It can also survive through the stomach and germinate in the small intestine⁴ and supplementing with DE111^TM can support a healthy gastrointestinal (GI) tract, gut function and microbiome diversity within the gut. As a spore-forming probiotic DE111^TM retains functionality through challenging processing conditions, that may otherwise damage conventional probiotics, and is shelf stable, which makes it suitable for a wide range of different foods, beverages, and dietary supplements*.

According to an FMCG Gurus study, 78% of Chinese consumers recognize the link between their digestive health and overall well-being, and 78% find food and drink products positioned around improving digestive health appealing⁵. Further, 57% of Chinese consumers have used probiotics/cultures to address digestive health concerns over the past 12 months⁵. This focus on digestive health and probiotics coincides with the predicted growth of the Chinese probiotic supplement market, with a forecasted CAGR of 11.7% between 2021 and 2026⁶.
