ADM Sponsors the WFF Startup Innovation Awards to Empower Young Entrepreneurs Revolutionizing Global Agrifood Systems

 

 

The Awards offer finalists the opportunity for global visibility, networking, and joining the WFF startup accelerator programmes to scale their solutions

The World Food Forum (WFF) Startup Innovation Awards 2024, powered by Extreme Tech Challenge (XTC) and sponsored by ADM, is a global program to elevate startups that are using technology creatively to address some of the current challenges facing global agrifood systems, such as climate change, biodiversity loss, deforestation, soil degradation and others.

Eight startups will be finalists across four award categories:

1.    Digital Innovation in Food Processing Award for sustainable development in food processing, using digital solutions on SME-level.

 2.    Empowering Women in Agrifood Systems Award for global solutions increasing access for women to land, inputs, services, finance and digital technology in order to drive positive agrifood systems transformation, particularly in the Global South.

3.    Food Loss Award to help reduce food loss within global agrifood systems, which focus on a single or multiple interventions within agrifood supply chains, starting from post-harvest until right before the retail chain. 

4.    Good Food for All, for Today and Tomorrow Award to identify and support global startups that are developing innovative, technology-based solutions to sustainably address food insecurity and access to healthy diets. 

World Food Forum

The finalists will attend the WFF Startup Innovation Awards Finals in Rome on World Food Day, on October 16, 2024, where they will pitch their projects to a panel of high-level judges from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and partners. Martin Kropp, President ADM Africa and Ana Yaluff, Director of Sustainability EMEA will be involved in selecting the finalists.

"With the challenges facing global agrifood systems, initiatives to support startups using sustainable solutions are of vital importance,” said Martin Kropp. “I look forward to reviewing the applications and seeing refreshing approaches to tackle food insecurity."

The awards were established to support young entrepreneurs whose ideas look to benefit global agrifood systems. There is a total of USD 50,000 available in prizes for the finalists.
